Little is known about Hans Strickler, except from a few records near the end of his life. He was probably born in Hirzel, SWI and was the Hans Strickler bor n 20 March 1670 at Hirzel, s/o Hans Strickler.

It remains unproved as to who m the ancestor of the American Strickler lines was. However, it is firmly belie ved by this researcher that it was the Hans Strickler of Hirzel who married Ann a Osler. There is considerable difficulty determining which Hans Strickler marr ied Anna Osler. It could have been Hans b. 1643, yet it could have been Hans Ja cob b.1636. Both men disappear from records soon after 1678. Both were in insta nces called Hans Strickler. No wife or children has been found for Hans Jacob S trickler. But a wife Anna Osler is named for Hans Strickler. Again it is unclea r which Hans.

Rev. Hans Strickler moved around quite a bit. His congregation would travel from Ibersheim to Holland to Friedrichstadt and back again. This occured numerous times. I'm sure records of the families are spread out in betw een. Hans was a deacon and minister. He probably died in late 1736 or very earl y 1737. His family all arrived in America without him in October 1737. The trip to America general took 3 months by water and another month by land to Rotterd am. So assuming Hans died and the family waited several months before imigratin g, Hans died at least before June 1737. I have way to much info for Hans to ret ype here in this file. So contact me for further information regarding him and his lineage. I will try to convert the biography into a text file and some how attach it here. Cross your fingers that it works.

Han s Strickler, b. c1665. d. between 1732 & 1737 at Ibersheim, Germany.He married first in about 1692 as he left the Ibersheim congregation in 1693 with a wife a nd no children for Friedrichstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany seeking refuge f rom the war. Since he had at least one child born at Friedrichstadt between 169 3 and 1697 and had no children when he left in 1693 it would appear that he was probably a newly married man when he left in 1693. His first wife died on 25 M ay 1697 at Friedrichstadt. He married secondly, Anna [?Hiestand] in about 1698 at Friedrichstadt. He returned to the Pfalz in 1698 with his wife Anna. He was a Mennonite deacon in 1693 and he was later a Mennonite minister living at Iber sheim in 1732. He was not married to Anna Lohrer as indicated by Frank Duff on his Strickler website. He was probably the father of the seven children listed below.

He may have been born and died in Switzerland.
