Obituary:
Mrs. Bess Margaret Johns, seventy one, widow of David H. Johns died yesterday at 6:30 A.M. at her home, Elizabethtown Rt. #2, Rt 743 after an illness of two years.
She was born in Middle Spring, Cumberland Co., the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret McCune Rhodes. She was a member of Reich's Evangelical Congregational Church and a member of the Adult Bible Class of the Church Sunday School. She was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers college and taught school in Cumberland Co. for twelve years following graduation. Surviving are seven children: Robert C., at home; Samuel D., Maytown; Margaret H., wife of Charles R. Kirchner, Lancaster; Frank M., Conestoga Rt. #2; Brady O., Elizabethtown Rt. #2; Oliver R., Elizabethtown; Kenneth R., Marietta Rt. #1; William W., Mount Joy; 17 grandchildren, and a brother, Walter Rhodes, Shippensburg.

William Walter Johns (her son) in 2006 said "she got sick after being kicked by a cow" and he thought she got a blood cancer.
