Shared note
|
Walter first worked at the J.E. Baker Quarry between Bainbridge and Marietta. He quit when his hourly rate was dropped from 17 cents an hour to 14 cents an hour. He then went to work as a bookkeeper at George McFarland's Oldsmobile dealership. When that went out of business, he began working at the Harrisburg Lumber Company (owned by J.D. Bogar) where he did bookkeeping and secretarial work. He was a wiz at shorthand. (Information from Roy Prescott) |
