She left after the first year because the Co. superintendent of schools came to the Millersville Normal School and asked for a recommendation for a teacher for a one room country school for 8 grades. The school recommended Estella and she accepted the job. She taught at Red Run and stayed with the Slaybaugh family. She then taught in a little school outside Maytown. (Information from Roy Prescott) Estella lived at ManorCare Nursing Home, 320 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA since 1985. From the Lancaster New Era (3-1-04): E. A teacher in Red Run for several years, she had attended the former Millersville Normal School.
