Shared note
|
According to Charles Fisher, author of "Snyder County Pioneers," John Jacob Hassinger (Sr.) came to America on the British ship Judith with his parents. His father was probably John Hassinger, who died in 1797. John Jacob Hassinger (1731-1802) is referred to as John Jacob Hassinger SENIOR in "Snyder County Pioneers," by Charles Fisher, a book in the collection of the Union County Historical Society in Lewisburg, Pa. Jacob's will is at the Northumberland County Court House (Register and Recorder's Office) in Sunbury, Pa. In it, he (presumably) names all of his children. He twice mentions that he has "six" sons, which most likely means that only these six were still living as of July 1802: Daniel, Jacob, Valentine, George, John, and Abraham. He mentions a total of nine sons in the will (the aforementioned plus Frederick, Jeremiah, and Philip), along with four daughters. Source: Will of Jacob Hassinger (Book 1, page 279), dated 17 August 1802; The executor is his oldest living son, Daniel. |
