[Strickler.GED] Carol Red DeWayne Strickler, 77, of Worland died April 9, 2002, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin. He was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Iroquois, S.D., to Hubert and Susie Martin Strickler. He grew up in Wilcox, S.D., and graduated from high school in 1941. He married Eleanor Maxine Coe in Orleans, Neb., on Aug. 17, 1947. Red loved fishing, bird hunting, baseball, softball, big game hunting and golf. He took pride in building the family cabin in the Big Horn Mountains with the help of his father and older brother. Mr. Strickler was a member of Worland Methodist Church, the country club and was a life member of the Worland Elks Club. He moved to Worland in 1950. He worked at Big Horn Chevrolet for 27 years. He later worked at Western Motors as a salesman, and was with them when they merged with Big Horn Chevrolet and became Big West Auto Plex, until his retirement in October 2001. He is survived by his wife Ellie of Worland, son Richard (Nancy) Strickler of Alexandria, Va., daughter Barbara (John) Groom of Laurel, daughter-in-law Christine (White) Edgington, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Red was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John, Roy and Kermit. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were April 13 at United Methodist Church. |
