[Strickler.GED] From MennoSearch.com He was age 2 u in 1646 and age 8 in 1649. He is not foun d in any records at Hirzel after 1649. He apparently left Hirzel between 1656 a nd 1670. He was not the Mr. Hans Strickler der Zintman in der Har®od mentione d in Volume II. That man was actually Mr. Hans Trickler (not Strickler).2 He or his brother Hans Jacob was probably the father of the three Mennonites, Hans, Hans Conrad and Jacob Strickler who lived in Germany. 2 It was actually Han s Trinkler and his wife Anna Ysleri/Isler who lived next to Hans Strickler in 1678 with their son Hans Jacob Trinkler who born on 20 May 1677 at Hirzel. Hans Strickler of Ibersheim In 1672 Hans Stricklers name appears on a lis t of Bernese Anabaptist refugees living at Ibersheim, Hesse, Germany.[1 ] The list is undated, but many of the names that appear on this list can be found o n the April 6, 1672 list previously published by Charles Whitmer. It would app ear that this undated list was made about the same time as the April 6th list, perhaps shortly after. There is no family information on this list, but it do es list the amount of monetary assistance given to each refugee. While most re fugees received on the average about 15 (?Guldens), Hans Strickler received 77 (?Guldens). It would appear that Hans Strickler had a large household to feed and clothe. This is the first mention of an Anabaptist named Strickler living in the Pfalz. It is interesting to note that Strickler is a Zurich name and n ot a Bernese name. It would appear that this Anabaptist refugee Hans Strickler was probably the Hans Strickler who was born in 1643 at Hirzel, Zurich and le ft Hirzel before 1670. His mother and grandparents were all Anabaptists. I had assumed that either this Hans or his brother Hans Jacob (b. 1636) was the fat her of the Strickler children found in the Ibersheim congregation in 1693. Fro m the refugee list it would appear that Hans Strickler was the father of those Strickler children and not Hans Jacob. Hans must have left Hirzel, Zurich for Canton Bern sometime between 1656 and 1670 and then was exiled in late 1671 o r early 1672 with the other Anabaptists from Bern. He may have married a Berne se woman. Here is his family; Hans Strickler, b. 1643, Hirzel, Zurich. d. aft er 1672, ?Ibersheim, Hesse. He had three sons who were Mennonites and living a t Ibersheim in 1693. He probably had daughters also. His son Hans was a Mennon ite minister. - ?Daughters, b. between about 1665 and 1684?
- Hans Strickle r, b. c1668. d. between 1732/1737, Ibersheim, Hesse.
- Hans Conrad Strickler, b. c1673. d. 1728, Friedrichstadt, Schleswig-Holstein.
- Jacob Strickler, b. c1677. d. after 1714, Germany.
