Shared note	[Strickler.GED] From MennoSearch.com: He was deeded 208 acres in lower Egypt, Frederick Co. , Virginia on 4 Jan 1755 by Fairfax which was part of Jacob's father's 1000 acr es. The administrators of his estate were his sons Joseph and John Strickler. I n the distribution of his estate on 19 Apr 1790, five pounds of money was to be paid to a Jacob Strickler of York Co., Pennsylvania. This Jacob Strickler o f York Co. was probably his first cousin who was living at Hellam Township f rom about 1787 to 1790. His cousin Jacob was the son of his uncle Henry Strick ler of Hempfield Township, Lancaster Co.. Jacob apparently left Virginia and went to live in Hempfield Township, Lancaster Co., being taxed there in 175 8 and 1759 on no land. His uncle Henry Strickler was living in Hempfield Townsh ip during those years. A number of Mennonites from the Shenandoah Valley left t he valley in the summer (by September) of 1758 and took refuge in Pennsylvania. Most of these refugees returned to Virginia in or after 1759. After Jacob's de ath, his widow married Abraham Hiestand on 4 Jun 1787 at Shenandoah Co.. From Other sources: He may also have been born in 1710. He may also have d ied in Page Co., Virginia. Jacob Strickler's birth is reportedly containe d in Mennonite Ministerial records. I have not been able to find the manuscript containing these dates. It would be interesting to know how they obtained thes e dates and how accurate of a source it was. His birth is reported as 4 Decembe r 1729. On another instance in 1750, Jacob Strickler refused to enter Military service on grounds he was against war. One source includes the phrase he was t hen about 22 years of age, (b. c1728).
